Which of these are you? Intellectual / Idealist / Creator / Innovator / Cyber explorer / Questioner / Philosopher.
Intellectual, Cyber
Explorer, Questioner, Philosopher
What makes you an intellectual / idealist / creator / innovator / cyber
explorer / questioner / philosopher?
Intellectual: I've been struggling to turn off this side of my
personality. I've even considered reading football magazines to memorise more
down to earth things to talk about. What can I say - I'm passionate about
debating the big picture. One thing I regret is not knowing enough people who
disagree with me. I did a semester with a hardcore Christian and it was one of
the funnest times of my life.
Cyber_Explorer: Oh, well, I surf the net a fair bit. It is always a
pleasent surprise to discover something new, be it entertaining or educational.
Questioner: When I meet people I try to get to know them by asking
them about their existence. I'm always slightly horrified when someone I've met
for the first time shrugs and has nothing to say about their life. I'm always a
little disappointed when someone doesn't ask me any questions about mine -
because that means that aren't really interested in getting to know me. When I
question people, many of these questions may be non-verbal, as will be many of
the replies. (That's my take on this question anyhow.)
Philosopher: What does this mean? Haha, that is the real nature of the
philosopher - to ask that question. Instead of explaining how I am a
philosopher, why don't I describe some things I philosphise about. Let's
see...recently I've been thinking about the predictability of groups of people.
I've decided that much of my intellectual persuits are to feed my ego. The base
of my fears I think is the fear of inevitability.
I consider it important to understand reality.
Life is an adventure of knowledge, and I consider it my ultimate life goal to
understand the universe as completely as I can.
What interests do you have that you would like others to join you in?
I enjoy discussion of the big picture - be it religion,
politics, human nature, the universe, whatever. Activities that discussion can
be a part of are therefore also nice, like board games, or a meal, or an
appropriate sporting event, like bowling. I don't get out enough, so perhaps
getting dragged into a bush walk might be healthy.
What have you done in your life that you have either been really proud of,
or really enjoyed?
I moved to Perth and got a job here, all by myself. I've
been proud of my tutoring. I enjoyed meeting some authors of the books I've
read.
What values would you like potential friends or a partner to share? Are
there any differences in the values you would require from friends as compared
to a partner, and if so, what?
I value intelligence, depth of character and higher morality. I
value friends who value me - people who choose to care. There is no difference
between a friend and a potential partner, except ideally they are my best friend
and, also ideally, the person whose character I admire the most.
What kind of friends / partner are you looking for?
Sortof an appendum to the above - interesting people are also
nice. Be unique!
Is there anything about yourself you'd like to promote? (website, business,
performances, books).
No.
Anything else you'd like to say?
I am a skeptic. I believe in only that which can be
empirically proven. I believe that people's beliefs are shaped by their desires
and information exposure(inparticular, lack of). I believe in objectivity and
the importance of truth. I am prepared to debate my beliefs at extreme length.
